Back when Liberated Baking was in Gresham, we were chatting with the owners and then mentioned gluten free Chinese food was across the street at Szechuan Open Kitchen. How they had GF options. How the chef’s daughter was a celiac, so they understood how to avoid cross contamination. My husband literally ran across the street while I finished my Reuben. He then pranced back – arms full of gluten free sweet and sour chicken, orange chicken, and fried rice.
Pretty soon, we had a takeout menu on our fridge and we had the restaurant number in our phones. My husband’s favorite is gluten free beijing beef with gluten free fried rice. I love the GF orange chicken and GF sweet and sour chicken. We also love the GF salt and pepper prawns. When my mom (who is a celiac also) comes to visit, this is where she wants to go.
It’s not a dedicated facility, but the menu is clearly marked and you just have to ask for gluten free. If you dine in, they will bring you oranges instead of fortune cookies. I like to still get my fortune to-go and open both of our fortunes over the garbage bin at home because I can’t resist a fun fortune. To-go orders are also usually ready in 10-15 minutes!
