Archive Coffee & Bar – Salem

Archive Coffee and Bar is my favorite kind of place – dark wood, beautiful bar, old books, big windows – I could spend days there. I was elated when it opened in 2014 and it quickly became my favorite haunt. It also made leaving Salem difficult. Every time I go through, I have to stop. Plus, on Tuesdays and Fridays (and some other days), they have BigWig Donuts! They not only have great tea and coffee though, all of their treats/pastries are gluten free! When I talked to the staff again this week, they said all the the pastries are made in the mornings before anything else is out, everything is cleaned, and celiacs have seemed to have good luck. It is a shared kitchen though, so at your own risk as always. My favorite part is that they brew your tea in a beaker and serve your tea on a plank of wood with the leaves. There’s no better place to enjoy a fall day (like my pic below back from 2016). Also, it turns into a bar at night, which is cool although I have not been myself.
