*CLOSED* Corbett/Hawthorne Fish House – PDX

*UPDATE* Corbett closed all locations at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and has decided not to re-open. We are crushed. Our last meal there was March 5, 2020.

Of all the gluten free places in Portland, I am confident we’ve gone to Corbett or Hawthorne Fish House more than anywhere else. My mom found the Corbett location back in 2009 when I first moved to Oregon and my parents came for a visit. After my first bowl of Crab Pepper Cheese Soup, I was hooked. My husband became obsessed when I introduced him as well. Everything in the restaurant is gluten free – onion rings, deep fried cheese curds, buttermilk chicken strips, and all the fried seafood. They also have awesome fish tacos. Our favorite meal is pictured below – an order of chili-fried catfish (spicy alert!) and an order of 1/2 buttermilk chicken strips and 1/2 clam strips with jalapeño tartar and honey mustard. There’s a location on Corbett Ave in Southwest, one on Hawthorne Blvd in Southeast, and one in Vancouver, WA. It’s a Packer’s bar as well, so it’s busy on game nights, but usually there’s no long wait for groups of 2-4. If you become a regular like us, they have a rewards program ($5 for every $100 spent)!
